It gets to a point where you simply stop having expectations.

Because no matter what you ask of them no matter how small seems like you are asking too much. It keeps happening over and over, until you wonder what is the point of trying anymore because you know the emotional toll it will have on you when your expectations are not met. But you always hope, hope that they will meet your expectations and when they don’t you go through the emotional roller coaster.

There isn’t much point to it. Other than hurting yourself. In fact, it serves as a self-harm activity because you do it, over, and over again.

It’s not that you’ve done something wrong. It’s that you’ve had expectations. Expectations you know that they don’t have the capacity to ever meet.
